Capital Campaign

Mission and Service
Today, Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory continues as a Marianist, Christ-centered school. It emphasizes a commitment to those values that honor the sanctity of life and the importance of each human being. Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory works in partnership with parents to ensure the total education of young men and women. Instruction emphasizes academic skills, civic responsibilities, and Catholic values. Additionally, comprehensive programs in athletics, the arts, student government, clubs, campus ministry and community service encourage each student to achieve his or her full potential as both a student and person.

Capital Needs Master Plan
The capital needs of Chaminade-Madonna have been identified and grouped into three phases. These funding challenges have been identified both in the school's ten-year Master Facilities Plan and also in its ten-year financial projections. In this master plan, it was understood that Chaminade-Madonna's construction and renovation projects and its endowment needs would be planned and completed, as funding became available:

Phase One: (Complete)
Construct a new "state of the art" Athletic Complex:
  • Football and Soccer Field with Bleachers
  • State of the art Track Facilities
  • Baseball and Softball fields
  • Locker Rooms, Training Room, Athletic Offices, Restrooms, and Athletic Storage
Phase Two: (Incomplete)
  1. Increase Parking capacity on Campus by 50%
  2. Renovate the 3 existing Science Labs
  3. Construct a multi-purpose Performing Arts Center with space for:
    • 350-seat Auditorium with Lobby
    • Band and Choir Room
    • Dance Studio
    • Art Studio
    • Theatre Practice Room
    • Student Activities and Campus Ministry Office
    • Gathering Courtyard
  4. Reassign and renovate existing space in the school into 5 New Classrooms and remove the existing portable classrooms from the site of the planned Performing Arts Center
  5. Renovate the Dining Hall and Kitchen and remove the existing stage
  6. Increase the permanently endowed Scholarship Fund by $1 million
Phase Three: (Incomplete)
  1. Renovate the Gymnasium
  2. Implement Technology upgrades
  3. Construct a new Press Box
Phase One of Chaminade-Madonna's Master Plan was completed in 2004 at a cost of $3 million. Projections for the completion of Phases Two and Three indicate that some $13 million in new funding may be required from a variety of funding sources including capital fundraising.

Capital Campaign Authorization
After continued study and strengthening of its campaign case for support, the Board of Trustees of Chaminade-Madonna in March of 2004 authorized this capital campaign to be implemented in 2004 and 2005 and to raise a minimum of $5 million for the most crucial capital improvements and for increased endowment.

Ultimately, this capital campaign will enhance the facilities of Chaminade-Madonna so that it might better fulfill its mission for future generations through a multi-phase program of extensive renovation and ambitious expansion. In addition, this capital campaign will help strengthen future operations of Chaminade-Madonna with the annual operating support that would be derived through the strengthening of its endowment fund.

Through this capital campaign effort, the Marianists and Chaminade-Madonna's trustees, administration, faculty, alumni, families, and friends are coming together to help provide the physical environment and financial strength that will be required to meet the institutional and educational needs of students of this and many future generations.

$5.5 Million Capital Campaign for the Most Pressing Capital Needs
In July, 2004, the Capital Campaign goal of $5.5 million was recommended unanimously by the Campaign Steering Committee, a representative group of Chaminade-Madonna's religious and lay leaders. Theme of the campaign is "Preserving Tradition, Fulfilling the Mission." The Case for Support includes the following elements:

Build the Performing Arts Center:$3,200,000
Renovate the 3 existing Science Labs:$500,000
Renovate existing space into 5 new Classrooms:$50,000
Renovate the Dining Hall and Kitchen:$150,000
Increase the Endowment Fund by $1 million:$1,000,000
Construct a new Press Box:$100,000
Permits, Plans, and Fees:$500,000
Total:$5,500,000

Chaminade-Madonna planners note that by completing these key capital projects, a powerful domino effect will be put into motion. For example, the construction of a new multi-purpose Fine Arts Center will:
  • Provide high quality classroom and meeting / gathering space for music instruction and the performing arts,
  • Free up existing floor space that will be available for five new classrooms for other course instruction, and
  • Eliminate the need for the four mobile classrooms currently in use on campus.

Memorial and Named Gift Opportunities for this $5.5 million Capital Campaign will be available for the projects identified in Phases One, Two and Three of Chaminade-Madonna's Master Plan. Details here.
